Handheld Data Acquisition device
Programming and Operating page
This page is the reference section for programming personal digital assistants and for creating the DOS interface. The PDA programming is needed in order to operate the circuit while attached to the PDA. The DOS interface allows the data gathered to be converted into a txt. file and plotted in excel. The PDA programming is more complicated than the DOS code by far. We recommend purchasing or borrowing the books listed in the reference section to further illustrate and explain the steps that we have taken. In order to create coding that is generic for all PDA's we use a version of Metroworks Code Warrior. This program allows the user to download a virtual PDA. The virtual PDA allows the user to write code in Code Warrior and see how it would operate on a real PDA. We have included some screen shots of the PDA emulator as well as links to where skins can be downloaded as well as some screen shots of the skins. For additional information on programming be sure to look at the publications listed in our reference section.
This is a link to the tutorial on how to install and run programs for palm programming.
This are link contains some sample codes. These codes may be cut and pasted into the Metroworks file. These codes demonstrate how to do simple as well as complex operations in Palm Os programming. They are in order of least complex to most complex. Just cut and paste between the asterisks and read the short description of what each program demonstrates.
