DIGM-100: Digital Design Tools

Students learn the basics of visual design and conceptual development within the digital realm. Software tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are utilized.

WBDV-240:Web Authoring I

This course explores principles and techniques for developing W3C compliant web sites using XHTML and CSS.

WBDV-241: Vector Authoring I

Focuses attention on learning multimedia-authorthing tools to create self-contained delivery programs, includes consideration and discussion of social impact of digital technology.

WBDV-242: Vector Authoring II

Students learn to animate with code using both object-oriented programming in ActionScript, and Flash rendering techniques. Basic motion principles such as velocity, acceleration, friction, easing, and bouncing are also introduced. Advanced motion techniques include springs, coordinate rotation, conservation of momentum, and forward and inverse kinematics.

WBDV-243: Web Authoring II

Students learn the basic principles of content management systems and develop a custom template structure. The class will also focus on cutting-edge XHTML/CSS techniques, including: how to plan, organize, and maintain effective stylesheets, build liquid, elastic, and hybrid layouts, and recognize common browser bugs.

DIGM-331: Concept Design

This course explores methods to develop design concepts on demand. Topics to be considered include recognizing one’s imaginative potential, developing a visual language, and maintaining an innovating ecology of mind.

DIGM-399: IND: Web Design for CMS

In this course the student will learn the basic principles of PHP; set up a content management system and develop a custom template structure. The focus will also be on cutting-edge XHTML/CSS techniques, including: how to plan, organize, and maintain effective stylesheets, build liquid, elastic, and hybrid layouts, and recognize common browser bugs.

DIGM-399: IND: Plug-In Dev for CMS

In this course the student will learn how to develop their own plug-in for use with content management systems. The student will research the custom functions and hooks that are supplied by their CMS of choice as well as the APIs of third part resources to develop dynamic, user friendly plug-ins. Students must already have a deep understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScipt, and PHP/MySQL.

WBDV-448: Web Development Workshop I

This course explores the management process of developing or redesigning a successful web site. Students work in team environments to analyze websites; define steps to develop beautifully designed and user friendly websites; and focus on branding, audience, usability testing, and content development.

DIGM-492,493,494: Senior Project I, II, & III

In these courses Digital Media seniors produce production quality Senior Projects. Students also learn to think critically about New Media and media production, and improve writing, oral and visual presentation skills.
