Formal Prose

Write with your best prose: proper grammar, no informal expressions, no "etc.," and don't use contractions. (And, no, this guide isn't written in formal prose, so you can't use that as your excuse... "the dragon used contractions; the dragon used 'so' as a conjunction; the dragon used 'etc.'," etc. Don't even think about it, or you'll get a scorching.)

Don't forget William Strunk and E.B. White, The Elements of Style.
