Traveling with Toddlers

By the time they're 18 months or so, babies have begun to enjoy the novelty of seeing new places and new things. But even the most outgoing child can feel anxious about getting to or being in a new place. To help your baby adjust, plan to spend quiet time together while you're in transit (if possible) and most important once you reach your destination. Make sure you bring along toys, blankets, and other familiar items from home to make your baby feel as secure as possible. Choose a destination where you don't have to constantly say no to your child. Book a place that offers safe, enclosed play areas so your child can toddle about without setting your pulse racing. This is a good age to consider a resort or packaged tour that specializes in family vacations.
