This term we have continued our funding research and
the construction of our two lathes. At this time, our
first lathe is ready for testing and turning of wood
pieces. We are excited to show the finalized lathe to
our cultural anthropologist Lew Lama during his visit
to Philadelphia next Friday, April 25th. We hope to
receive valuable input from him which will help with
our second lathe and the design of our manual.
Our work is progressing well as we keep in contact with helpful groups and individuals in Tanzania. Our funding opportunities are expanding through the help of Drexel University and we look forward to hearing back from interested donors for our trip to Africa. We intend the finish both lathes soon and continue our work towards implementation in Africa. We still a senior design final presentation which will occur in four weeks and we have been preparing a Powerpoint presentation for that occasion. The presentation will discuss the progress of our project and we intend to bring our lathe and turn wood on it during the presentation.
