Action items for this week
1. Paperwork
Bill and I talked with Joanne on Monday because I was
on the system as an RA. She is taking care of it. I'll check with her on
Monday.
2. IQEye tutorial
* Explain C code and give examples (done)
* Visit iqEye's web site: What are its selling points? (not done)
Phone them! Ask them why you can't get results as good as theirs.
I contacted IQEye support and they told me that the
problem could be the lens. We agreed that you need to have the right lens
for a given application. Additionally, they told me that as soon as you
zoom, the quality of the image decreases because of interpolation. Since the
camera does not have any optical zoom, everything is done digitally. They
mentioned down-sampling the data but that is only done for bandwidth
purposes. They said that what I'm seeing is what I'm supposed to see.
I wouldn't spend that much money on the IQeye, when I can get something
better, as far as image quality is concerned. I can't mention its selling
points because I don't have other network camera to compare it to. If I
compare the IQeye with regular cameras, as I did, we would see that there
isn't that good.
3. Matlab Mosaicking
Tutorial on the Omnicam
You can access the tutorial at
NetVision360 Tutorial
I have also added a
Mosaicking Tutorial
Regarding the SDK, Remote Reality does not provide
one.
4. Weekly tasks
I have created a link to my workplan. It is under tasks
5. Omnicam - can you get sharper images?
I changed the images that were on the webpage with
better ones. I spoke with Mary Foley, at remote
Reality, and she told me that I can't get better images
than the ones I have due to resolution of the camera.
6. Schedule on how to implement Eigenface
application
I have created a work plan to implement the eigenface
approach to use it with buildings.
