1. This week's items
A. Results from working with Korhan (post
the pictures you took yesterday)
We didn't meet
because he was going to be busy all week. We are going
to try to meet Friday the 5th.
B. Results applying your algorithm on wooden blocks
Since I wasn't able to meet with Korhan I had to
design my own model and
do some tests. Because they were done
before your email, they were done
under, more or less, real conditions.
Physical Changes
I also performed several tests under ideal
situations but it took me several
hours to obtain the desired results. On the
webpage I explain the reasons.
It was mainly due to extreme sensibility to
the position of the model.
The results shown on the webpage are the best I could get. I
believe that
the difference in distance between the images in the training
set and the
input images that didn't
have any modifications are due to a slight
misalignment.
Proof Of Concept
I would love to spend some more time to get
better results but I have spent
around 25 hours already, and I need to
study for finals. I will try to get perfect
results next week.
Finally, we don't have any LEGO; the ones that Bill used were from his
cousin.
We don't have any wooden blocks either. I
borrowed some connects from the
TDEC lab. I have to return them next week.
Would you like to purchase some
legos to do some more tests and to have
them on the lab for a future use?
C. Download, install and test MATLAB Image Acquistion Toolbox
http://www.mathworks.com/products/imaq/
They
will not give it to me the toolbox unless the end user (you) calls. They
want to get sure you are thinking on buying
it if you like it. The person you sent
the email to, wasn't replied.
D. Have you programmed in Java? If so, describe the program.
If not, find if any Java courses are offered this Fall.
I haven't take
any course in java. I know there is a course called Concurrent
Programming that uses java. I will
stop by the CS department and find if there
are any more courses besides that
one. Dr. Bruce Char is teaching it.
2. Action items for next week
A. Complete 2A, 2B if you haven't already done so
B. Begin tutorial on 2C
