Conventional Application of Industrial Paints

The Oldest Spray Method

Conventional spraying has been used to paint for over 100 years.
The basic design remains and still provides an excellent finish.
Very Few Changes

Conventional spray guns have not changed much for 70 years. Spray guns were developed out of the need for efficiency over brushing and rolling. These guns use high pressure air to break up a stream of paint as it exits the tip of the gun. Original designs relied on suction for fluid delivery. Modern coatings require pressure or gravity feed for proper flow and atomization.
Conventional spray guns provide the best atomizing and finest finish available.

High pressure air is used to break up paint into very fine droplets. The process also creates overspray or waste. This method has a 30-40% transfer efficiency. Use of conventional spray is declining due to new regulations. The EPA now requires some coating processes to be 65% efficient.
