Your textbook comments can be typed below. (A = outstanding, C = average, E = poor) 0.4 1.0 What grade do you expect to get from this class? 4.5 0.5 Course Comments 1 this course consume alot of time especially the project, but the overall class such as homework and exam are fair. 2 Out of all the control courses I've taken as an undergraduate, this is the first one where I actually designed my own controller. It was definitely a confidence builder! 3 The key strengths are the combination of theory and hands-on work, which creates a great course. The theory is presented in a clear fashion and always tied to real world problems. The project/hands-on work allows the students to apply the theory to solve real-world problems. I don't see any weaknesses in this class as it explains the material well. 4 strengths: lot to learn, course structured well weaknesses: too much of work to do in a term, homeowrks, midterms, finals, project , project reports and lab work. cant handle the course if one takes more than one course in a term. 5 Strength: His course has combined both theory and on hand system control design which has proved to be very helpful for me. Weakness: I do not see any yet. 6 too many assignments. Cut out either the final project or the final exam. thats about it 7 I think this class is really great. The power is that is integrated control theory with PC hardware and programming in C language. Indeed there is a lot to do (demanding, from time point of view), but when you look back you there are a lot of things to see. 8 At times this seemed like a correspondance course; excessive amounts of time outside course hours at Drexel were required without instruction. This course is NOT friendly to part-time students. More than 639, lectures seemed disjointed from the labs, though both were still related. The main strength of the course is the clearly identifiable real world value. Instructor Comments 1 clearly explain 2 Explains topics clearly and concisely. Always gives very good examples of how theory is applicable in real world which make even the difficult material a little easier to comprehend. 3 Dr. Oh is a great professor who combined theory and hands-on work in MEM 640 to give the students an easier understanding of micro-computer controls. 4 strengths: great knowledge on the topic, clear and can coommunicate well, good teching capacity. weaknesses: lot expected in a course, won't listen to student's voice would take his own decision. 5 his organization of the course was very good and in a matter of 8 weeks, he did manage to cover a lot. His understanding and communications skills are very good. 6 good delivery. clear cut. grandmother explanations are critical to learning. Very few have the ability and experience to break down complex real world problems in control engineering. Dr. Oh did that for us repeatedly and successfully. 7 well prepared for class, clear explanations, 8 Dr. Oh clearly has a knowledge and command of the material. Help was difficult to obtain. General Comments / Suggestions 1 suggest new project besides controlling DC motor, it would be more interesting for student to learn new stuff 2 Although time is the enemy in any 10 week course, possibly touching on a little bit more graduate material. 3 NA 4 reduce amount of work that can make the student concentrate more on the topic and enjoy learning it rather than on submissions of the work. 5 above 6 I would suggest that part time students and non-MEM students avoid this course. For other students, the course is probably well posed. More integration between the control theory/filtering and the lab might enhance the course.
