Society for the Philosophical Study of Marxism Info
History: The Society was founded in 1962 by John Somerville and Howard Parsons. In recent years, one of its main functions has been the organization of panel sessions at American Philosophical Association and World Congress of Philosophy meetings. At times in the past the organization has collected panel proceedings and published them as separate volumes. We'd like to expand the group's activities in facilitating discussion of issues in Marxist Philosophy beyond the APA and World Congresses and eventually establish our own conferences and publications.
Membership: Membership is not a requirement for participation in any of the group's activities, but currently there are no dues for membership, and membership effectively amounts to receiving announcements about SPSM events and participating in them in some way. For information about participation in SPSM events, contact one of the group's coordinators: Peter Amato , Anne Pomeroy, and Nancy Zeigler.
