It all started on a hot (sorry mom and dad)
summer day in Pakistan, and many moons later here I am. Much has
happened during this time but I won't bore you with all the details. Here
are highlights:
Birth - July 21, 1970, here's me wasting
time, contemplating the difference between a 20" vs. 22" bass
drum. Contrary to widespread panic, that is not my pops.
The Big Move when I was four
The Bigger Move when we arrived in the
US of A
my first big wheel when I was 6, a red white and blue symbol of
democracy, and freedom
*gasp* my first (and longest) kiss at 7, (with the neighbor's pooch)
secondary school/high school/college a blur of insanity
med school, sippin' mai's and
tai's, chillin' on Vinnie's, Young Island,
and Bequia
internship/residency/fellowship (again, blurry at best)
present day, sitting in the studio in midtown Manhattan!
Here's a page dedicated to my little neices, Haleemah and Maryum.
I'm finally in private practice, in Allergy and Immunology.
But in the
meantime, I'm an avid musician. I can play guitar and a little
keys, but im a drummer. I've been playing the drums for about 14 years on
and off (mostly off), and my main influences are too numerous to
count, but mainly Neil Peart, (Rush), Mike
Portnoy(Dream Theater),
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Carter Beauford (The
Dave Matthews Band), and Steve
Smith (Journey, now with Vital
Information). I also liked the stripped down approach of drummers
including Dave Abbruzzese (of old Pearl Jam), Dave Grohl(Nirvana), and
Jimmy Chamberlain (Smashing Pumpkins, so he's a crack head?!?!), Eric
Kretz (of STP), Matt Cameron (of soundgarden, now independent), Phil
Selway (Radiohead). I've dabbled in jazz, but basically i couldn't swing
from a rope! So you can probably tell that I'm a huge drummer's fan.
