Star (students tackling advance research) poster session is coming Thursday August 14, 2008.  This is the event where every star  student comes and display their progress and results from this summer.  My poster is sent in and being printed.  It was a good summer and I am looking forward to some great posters from everyone in the star program.

I have been given a new project that includes creating a head tracking unit.  I have gotten the supplies.  I hope to get started soon and maybe implement the virtual reality shooter program another person has written with it.

The Robonova is a 12 inch tall robot with 16 servos for movement. My work entails the modification of the Robonova humanoid robot.  This project encompasses program coding and improvement of sensor use.  (Sensors are used for distance movement and balancing of the robot.)  The coding used is robobasic a modified from of basic for robots.  The language is quickly understood however the detailed the robot becomes with moves and thought processes the harder it is to code then compared with some other languages.  The problems arise in missing common phrases such as while and the limitation of precision movement.  The objective is to gain a better understanding of humanoid robotics.  The main activities of this project are writing of tutorials and expansion of capabilities of the Robonova.  Currently, I am concentrating on an accelerometer that will be used for the balancing of the Robonova.  With this added stability the Robonova will be able to walk across a see-saw.  This will examine the capabilities of the Robonova in the fields of balance and movement.
