As the Associate Vice President - Instructional Technology Support, at Drexel University, in Philadelphia, Mike coordinates the activities of four dozen professionals in four disparate locations who function in the Collaboration and Online Learning Team and the Client Services group. He represents IRT, broadly, throughout every department, college, and school at Drexel – and collaborates with their leadership on an ongoing and rigorous basis. In ITS:
- The C&OLT is comprised of the Collaboration Team (CT) and the Online Learning Team (OLT)
- The Client Services Group is comprised of Desktop Support, Help Desk, Facility Services, the ITR Team (at Cabrini College), and the Academic Services Team which is located in Sacramento, California.
The OLT (that Mike formerly led) currently supports 45,000 end-users at Drexel University, the Drexel College of Medicine, as well as five partner institutions for which Drexel hosts Blackboard Vista 8 in an ASP model. (The current LMS Roadmap has all schools migrating to Blackboard Learn in 2012.)
- The OLT provides ongoing discovery, vetting, selecting, training and support for emerging technologies such as: Wimba, TurnItIn, Dreamweaver, Camtasia, Impatica, Respondus, EndNote, and many others. This support initiative is expanding as, for example, Drexel University was the first institution to site-license Impatica - for students, and became a significant user of iWebfolio, for e-Portfolios, when all 2500 incoming freshmen in 2009, and all 2650 incoming freshmen in 2010, were brought up to speed on this application.
- The CT supports broad-based use of SharePoint for collaboration and SiteCore for Web development.
- Facility Services, or the Video-Conferencing Team, provides HDVC capability throughout the University community as well as lecture and event capture, Webcasting, archiving, editing, encoding, and streaming.
- ITR provides the core of the on-site IT department at Cabrini College, a key Drexel partner. Desktop Support. Help Desk. Online Learning.
- Academic Services provides technology support for all academic classes and institutional events held at Drexel's CGS, Center for Graduate Studies, located close to California's capitol building.
