Frequently Asked Questions

General

1. Where are you located? Our street address is 1500 Glen Ave. Folcroft, PA 19032. Church is on the corner of Glen and Folcroft Aves. Glen Avenue is one-way off of Primos Ave. Folcroft Ave. is closed to outside traffic due to bridge closing. See map.

2. Are you handicapped accessible? Yes, there is a ramp to one of the entrances on Glen Ave. We also have handicapped accessible bathrooms.

3. Is there parking available? Yes, there is parking available on surrounding streets plus a church parking lot which is shared with the apartment complex. The entrance to the parking lot is on Folcroft Ave. behind the church.

4. Can non-members use the church building? Yes, non-members can request use of our church building for a small rental fee. Please contact the church office for more information (email or by calling (610) 583-7816.

5. What hours is the church office open? The church secretary is in the office Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. If she has to leave the office on an errand a note is placed on the office door. Pastor Ray's hours vary each week and are posted in the church bulletin each Sunday. Other hours are available by appointment. The answering machine is always on for messages.

 

Worship Services

1. When are Services held? Services are held on Sundays at 10:15am and last about an hour. Other Services include:

            Advent Soup & Services held during Sundays in Advent (soup at 5:30pm, program at 7:00pm)

            Christmas Eve - Family Service at 7:00pm, Candlelight Service at 10:00pm

            Ash Wednesday held at 7:30pm

            Mid-Week Lenten Services held on Wednesdays during Lent at 7:30pm

            Maundy Thursday held at 7:30pm

            Good Friday held at 7:30pm

            Thanksgiving Eve held at 7:30pm

2. Is Nursery provided? Yes, we provide nursery care during worship for children through kindergarten. Children in first grade and above are expected to attend worship with their parents. Children's folders, with activity sheets, are available.

3. Is there a Children's Sermon? Yes

4. How often do you have Communion?  We have Communion on the first Sunday of the month, including some Festivals:

            Ash Wednesday

            Maundy Thursday

            Easter

            Pentecost

            Reformation

            Christ, the King

All are invited to the Lord's Table who believe that Jesus is Lord and He is present in the bread and wine. Those who do not commune my come to the rail for a blessing. White grape juice is also available if medical reasons prohibit your use of wine.

5. What Service Hymnal(s) do you use? We use the Evangelical Lutheran Worship Book (ELW or  "Cranberry" as we lovingly call it). We also sing out of the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW or green book), With One Voice (the blue book) and This Far By Faith (the maroon book). We currently use Setting 1 and an adapted Setting 8.

 

Education

1. Do you have Sunday School? Yes, Sunday School is held during the school year. All classes meet together in the social room for a short service at 9:00am., then split into separate classes until 9:55am. There are classes for nursery through adult.
