Unconscious (Freud's definition)

A reservoir of mostly unacceptable thoughts, desires, feelings and memories.

(contemporary definition) Information processing of which we are unaware.

Superego

The mind's representations of ideals and standards for judgment. (the conscious)

Ego

Seeks to satisfy the needs of the Id, while avoiding pain and prolonging pleasure.

Child copes with incestuous sexual feelings and develops gender identity.
