Materials
Expectations
Attendance is mandatory. There is an attendance sheet which you must sign to receive credit for attending each class meeting. In accordance with University policies, an incomplete will be issued after more than two absences. If you know that you must miss class in advance, please contact me to make other arrangements. Don't forget to bring your lab manual and a disk to class.
Each week, students will complete an assignment assigned in class worth 13 points. Assignments are due at the beginning of class, and should be typed with the lab section and instructor identified with your name.
The Individual Research Project (IRP) integrates the weekly assignments, and involves developing your own research hypothesis, and collecting, summarizing and interpreting data collected. Each student will write a paper as well as present their project and results in class. The paper is due at the beginning of the last lab meeting of the term. Information about the IRP can be found in the document IRP Guidelines and will be discussed in detail later in the term.
Lab activities constitute 40% of the overall course grade (mid-term and final exams are worth 30% each). The following outlines grading for lab activities:
Policies
If a student receives less than 10 points on a lab report, s/he can re-write the report. Re-written reports can receive a maximum of 10 points and must be turned in one week after receiving the first attempt.
No late assignments will be accepted. All work must be turned in before the last laboratory class meeting of the term (including extra credit).
Academic dishonesty will be enforced in accordance with University policies.
