What were the hypotheses?
What were the conditions?
What were the main results?
Specifically, did viewing aggression have an influence on the
children's behavior? Did it influence some children more than others?
Did the sex of the model make a difference?
Application &
Integration
- Can these results be
generalized to children in the US? Why or why not?
- Is there a critical/sensitive
period for modeling? Explain.
- How does modeling as a form of
learning measure up to classical (aka Pavlovian) and operant
conditioning paradigms? Describe some situations that one form of
learning (i.e., classical, operant, modeling) works better than
others.
- What might the role of
catharsis be in the viewing of violent images?
- Based on the results from this
study, should all parents follow the lead of VP Gore and get a
V-chip for their television? Explain.
- How do these results inform
the Beavis and Butthead incident (when teens commited arsen
shortly after the broadcast of the "fire, fire, he he he"
episode)?
