Bothersome Aspects of the Internet

• Some big name sites top searches for too many different related or even distantly related searches
• EX: Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity show up for almost every search that involves any type of travel even if they do not provide the particular method being searched for

• Information can be manipulated
• Information can be misleading
• Information can be outdated
• Sometimes hard to search for and pinpoint, very specific facts
• Some companies and services have very poor, hard to navigate websites
• In some cases you are forced to use biased information
• Some sites force the user to, for no apparent reason, register or input an email before looking at the contents
• Some websites don’t contain the information that they claim to in the search summary
