What Is a Blog?

This assignment aimed to give us experience in informative writing with an explanatory format.

A long long time ago, like 5 years back, people expressed opinions and recorded thoughts primarily in journals or through conversation. However, the internet changed this, providing a means for ordinary people to communicate through a variety of means, in text, images, and videos, in the form of dated entries. They also have the option of letting their readers communicate back through comments. They could show their expertise on a topic, entertain, inform, and persuade all on a single webpage. This kind of webpage became known as a blog, which is slang for “web log”
 
Presently, a user can find blogs on practically any topic imaginable on various sites on the internet, authored by people ranging from teenagers to senior citizens. Political blogs have gained the most attention because of their ability to influence elections, either by raising campaign money or simply supporting a candidate and getting that candidate’s name and ideas out to readers. However, these are not the only kinds of blogs one can find. In personal blogs, the writer details his or her life in posts or expresses opinions on anything they desire. Humor blogs, such as Anonymous Lawyer or Overheard in New York, post entries sporadically or periodically intended to make viewers laugh. MP3 blogs allow musicians to share their music with viewers directly. Photo blogs allow photographers or graphic designers to show the world their work. Video blogs (increasingly known as vlogs) allow site owners to upload videos of whatever they want to share with friends, family, or anyone who cares to watch them. But blogs don’t have to be complicated technically. Most blogs are just text,
Essentially, a blog is an online journal, a series of dated entries which all have one topic in common, even if that topic is simply the authors themselves..
