Bridal Shower Tips

Now that you have ideas for favors and games, you might like to have a few miscellaneous tips for hosting bridal showers. See below for ideas and advice.

Decorations

This is a very personal decision and completely up to you. You can use streamers and balloons or try something a little different. The major decoration piece is the umbrella. This umbrella hangs upside-down above the chair that the bride will sit in. Streamers often hang down from the sides. You should be able to find all of these materials at your local craft stores.

Surprise

It's traditional for the shower to be a surprise, although this trend seems to be going out of fashion (based on my observations). It's hard to hide this kind of event from a busy bride who knows she will get a shower at some point. Some brides enjoy helping to plan their own showers and it's very helpful when she can pick a day and time that's convenient for her. If you do decide to make the shower a surprise, Make sure she looks nice! If you let her show up for her own shower in sweats and without makeup she will probably never forgive you. Trust me on this one.

Ribbon Bouquet

There is a cheesy tradition of attaching all the ribbons and bows from the gifts to a paper plate to create a ribbon bouquet. If you decide to do this make sure certain guests are assigned to this activity and provide them with a paper plate, scissors, glue and tape. Some people like to have the bride place the bouquet on her head at the end of the shower for pictures. Some brides choose to use the ribbon bouquet at the wedding rehearsal.
