The Library Job Search
Searching for jobs online has become one of the most popular methods for finding employment. Job posting giants like monster.com and CareerBuilder have become household names. Unfortunately, these popular sites have little or no job opportunities for librarians. The good news is, there are several websites dedicated specifically to posting library jobs. It's a good idea to identify these sites, bookmark them and check them at least once a week for new positions.
Here is a list of library job sites I recommend:
ALA JobLIST - http://joblist.ala.org/
The American Library Association's job posting site. Search for employment opportunities by library type, job category, location, keyword, etc. Register for a FREE account to make your resume available to employers and get notifications via RSS feed or email about new job opportunities that match your preferences.
LISjobs - http://www.lisjobs.com/
This site has a plethora of information about the library job search, including lists of job openings in reverse chronological order and by state. For a small fee you can also post your resume on this site for employers to view.
Library Job Postings on the Internet - http://www.libraryjobpostings.org/
This site provides lists of library job posting sites according to your geographic region or library type preferences. It's an excellent resource for getting a quick list of sites you should bookmark and check periodically.
The iSchool at Drexel: Job Postings - http://www.ischool.drexel.edu/APF/JobPlacement/Search/JobPostings
Drexel University's iSchool job posting site. Search for library and/or information systems jobs by posting date or location.
