Spring Trip -- Myrtle Beach "So how'd it go?" (April 29 --- May 2)

The BHS Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Select Choir ventured to Myrtle Beach, SC for 3 days of competition and relaxation. However, the weather was better in our home state/city, Bridgeton, NJ. Still, if you ask the people who went, I believe they'd all say that they had fun anyway. We stayed at the Landmark Resort, which was located directly on the ocean's coast, and though we were plagued with wind, rain, and cold for the entire trip, we still managed to have fun.

We captured the Excellent rating for each of the groups perform, and although we didn't claim first over any other groups, our Color Guard won the Outsanding Overall Auxillary trophee. Select Choir performed "Welcome Sweet Pleasure" and "Jenny Rebbecca." Jazz Band performed "Working Out," "Jersey Bounce," and "Splanky." Marching Band performed "Corrado." I'm in both Jazz Band and Marching Band.

Although we didn't swim in the ocean, we visited places such as, the Pavilion amusement park, Ripley's 'Believe It Or Not' Museum, Broadway at the Beach, Ripley's Aquarium, and the Attic which was the teen dance club which our jazz band performed in and where members of the band and choir danced.

By the way even though the initial letters of the paragraphs above spell T W A, we traveled to SC by tour bus.

Spring Concert

The spring conert music is not "set in stone" but here are some of the songs that we will most likely be playing for the Spring and 'Music In Our Schools' concerts: "Four Of A Kind", a Trumpet Jazz Quartet with Band, "A Gaelic Ballad", "El Relicario", "Where The Black Hawk Soars" and "River of Life."

Jazz Band

This years jazz band has many titles to pick from and some of them include: firstly and old favorite "Splanky" (to hear my solo in "Splanky from last year click here), "Caravan", "All The Things You Are", "Traces", Jersey Bounce, and "Working Out."
For the Spring Trip at Myrtle Beach we will be playing Working Out, Jersey Bounce, and Splanky.

Spring Marching Band

For Parade this year we will be playing "Corrado", favorite of BHS' band instructor, Mr. Cubbage.

The BHS Concert Band's Winter concert included many festive melodies from American and elsewhere. The music for the winter concert included "The Spirit of Christmas," "Midnight in Bethlehem," "Santa Claus Comes To Dixieland," and "Chanukah Is Here."

Christmas Parade

This year the BHS Marching Band marched down the streets of Bridgeton playing "Santa's Parade", which themed 4 different holiday favorites.

Fall '98 Field Show Music

This year's field show is based on a collection of songs with the theme, "Pictures at an Exihibition"

The songs are Promenade, The Old Castle, Hut on Fowl's Legs, and The Great Gate of Kiev. Click the underlined links to hear samples of them.
