I also agree that we can't save everything. Even if there were an archive for every niche of information, it would be impractical to attempt to acquire all information for that niche. Also, so much information gets destroyed before any archivist could get their hands on it to save it. I have a hard time envisioning many scenarios where someone would need every iteration of a presentation. Most of them could be discarded right from the beginning. However, rough drafts of books, particularly novels, and art sketches may bring a lot of insight about the author or artist, making them just as valuable as the finished product.
