Research and miscellaneous

I am sharing some sites, some useful for research, some for incoming students, some are useless. Below are links I have found useful, while I research. Most are generic, while some are research specific (liquid crystals, polymers).

I will start off with useful library resources. Drexel Library has a decent online collection. Some databases I need to use while dong literature searches. Unless stated, the links take you to the database within Drexel Library's site
1. Engineering Village 2
2. Web of Science
3. Science Direct
4. American Institute of Physics' journals
5. RefWorks. This is an awesome database for storing your search results.

For graduate studies

  • Norman Ramsey has maintained a wonderful page for students here. At places, it might be Harvard specific but is useful nevertheless
  • Goes without saying, its unimaginable for a graduate student to live without Google
  • For PhD qualifiers, specially at Drexel, I have prepared a write-up
  • PhD Comics is a wonderful comic strip that sums up the life of a grad student

For incoming students, Harpreet, a Drexel alumni has composed a wonderful page. Its written from an Indian students perspective but most of it is useful to anyone else. Click here to see what he has to say. Also, Pragathi, the graduate Indian Sudents' association, has developed this list of documents for new students.
