If you have problems downloading Excel Files

NETSCAPE

1. Select the file to be downloaded and hold down the mouse button
2. A menu should appear
3. Select the "Save as" option
4. You will now get another menu (at least on the macintosh) asking you to save as text or as source. you want to save as source.
5. Now open the Excel program, and open the file that you just saved -- it should come up as a readable spreadsheet

Make sure to open the file from inside the excel program and not by simply clicking on the file icon. you may need to set the list of file types as "all files" inside the open file option within excel to view the complete file list

EXPLORER

1. Select the file to be downloaded and hold down the mouse button

4. You will now get another menu (at least on the macintosh) asking you to point to intended file destination (Download file to)
5. Now open the Excel program, and open the file that you just saved -- it should come up as a readable spreadsheet
