15. CONCLUSION
The objective of the proprietary Multifunctional Telecommunication Addressing System developed by Telecom Addressing Group and disclosed herein is to increase the number of telephone addresses available without perceptibly disturbing the fixed character-groupings publicly accepted throughout the NANP service area for local and long-distance calls. Because MTAS does not alter the primary telephone address MTAS functions in a manner compatible with the present PSTN addressing arrangement: all addresses still terminate with the PSTN four digit line number, signaling to PSTN switches the end of the addressing sequence. Hence MTAS is compatible with SS7 signaling and control. Compared to PSTN reprogramming for NPA portability, implementing MTAS will be straight forward.
