- MTAS implementation is esentially seamless
as far as subscribers are concerned: its services are available for the
asking. However the PSTN requires reprogramming to distinguish telephone
addresses from device addresses and three transpositionings for address
string length recognition. Accordingly, telephone addressing functions
separately from MTAS device addressing. This consideration alone permits
MTAS implementation without disturbing the present telephone addressing
arrangement.
- These services can be integrated after
MTAS is fully implemented however by appending dummy tones to the telephone
address before routing outside the local COX. Of course this operation
is invisible to the users.
- Now all addresses have the same length
and no further transpositions are required. Essentially SS7 routing functions
as in present practice.
