Storer House Rendering

(Fall 2004, Architectural Presentation, Community College of Philadelphia)

This project was mainly designed to give us practice with Adobe Illustrator to combine model work, hand drawings, hand pencil renderings, perspective sketches and computer rendered illustrations, which were developed over the course of the semester.  The subject for this project was Frank Lloyd Wright's Storer House.

We first completed a hand rendering in colored pencil of a partial section of the house.  The drawing was scanned for use in this presentation.  This drawing is in the lower right hand corner of my layout.

We then created a physical model of the house, created mostly from chip board and foam core.  The model was photographed and edited with Photoshop to create a photo-merge style rendering.  Topography and elements of the landscape were added to create a more convincing image.  This image is in the upper right hand corner of my layout.

The photograph of the model was also used as a base to construct a two-point perspective, into which we constructed the new addition to the home.  This image in is the lower left hand corner of my layout.

The exsisting hand drawings of the house were then merged with a plan, elevation and section of the new addition in Illustrator and then rendered.

Finally, we used Illustrator to compose all the work -- adding labels and titles -- to create a single, organized final presentation board.
