What’s
up new and returning NSCS members!
I hope everyone’s
getting settled in and adjusted back to reality after summer break.
If you didn’t notice we went on a little hiatus over the
summer but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been hard
at work. Here is the latest on what we have been up to:
We have been
kicking around a few ideas to help out with Hurricane Relief Efforts:
-This Thursday
October 13th, 7:00 PM there is a Dodgeball Tournament
at the DAC that NSCS can enter, please send me an email (ka37@drexel.edu)
if you are interested in participating ASAP. There is an entry
fee of $60 that NSCS will cover as a donation.
-Annual
Induction Convocation for new members will be October
22nd at 12:00 PM in Mandell Theater. Dean of Students
David Ruth will be our first ever guest speaker for the event.
We will be collecting canned food and small donations that we
will donate to the Philabundance Food Cupboard which is conducting
Hurricane Relief Food Drives.
http://www.philabundance.org/katrina/philabundancefooddrive.htm
NSCS usually
just collects items from new members I want to open it up to everyone
in order to help out the victims, so if you can’t volunteer
see if you can drop off one of the items on the list.
We will need
a few volunteers to help out with induction this year, please
contact me if you can help out, even if it’s for an hour
or so, the event will run from 12 until around 3 PM.
-We would
also like to run a drive by collecting change or something of
the sort to donate to the Red Cross, if you have any ideas for
events, or would like to volunteer please send me a message.
-We will have
our first general body meeting after induction sometime at the
end of October or beginning of November.
-We also have
an official office now (first time ever) 48L in the Creese Basement.
-There is
a Red Cross Blood Drive November, 3rd that the
CAA is sponsoring, I encourage everyone to go and donate if you
can.
-Towards the
end of Fall term we will have general elections, please let me
know if you are considering running for a position so I can send
you more information.
Thank you
and please contact me with any questions or concerns (ka37@drexel.edu).
Watch your inboxes for the next NSCS Update.
