Professors Professors do not care if you attend class, even though they all wish you did (many of them do not take attendance). Professors will not remind you of a test or when homework is due. Professors are basically givers of information. That's all. They stand up there and try to explain the stuff in the textbook by adding their own spin on things or own observations. It's not their job to help you get an 'A'. That's your job.
Class Optional? I'm sure in high school you heard the myth that "going to class is optional". You are right and wrong. Some professors don't take attendance and don't care; those are usually the large classes where it would take too much time to do so. But some professors count attendance into your final grade. And not to mention you learn MORE by attending class. Some of us at the NAACP have taken this newly found "freedom" to extremes. One member who will remain anonymous states,
Contrary to whatever you think, you are more likely to receive a higher grade if you attend class. The infamous "2nd midterm"
How can you have a 2nd midterm when you only have 10 weeks of class? The definition of "midterm" is an exam in the middle of the term, right? Think again. Here at Drexel anything is possible and professors will do anything to get those tests in. Drexel is only TEN weeks of class with finals during the 11th week. The first week of class doesn't count because you usually given the syllabus and the guidelines of the class. That leaves you 9 weeks to learn everything. That means don't MISS CLASS! At Drexel there is NO CATCHING UP. You miss a week of class, you will most likely miss that 'A' you thought you were going to get. You MUST stay on top of your game. I know this seems like a lot and kind of intimidating but we've all been through it and did so with little to no permanent mental damage.
