If you really want an 'A'

Office Hours

All professors are REQUIRED to have office hours and show up to them. If your professor doesn't have them or doesn't show up, inquire about it or go to the dean. Remember they are REQUIRED to hold office hours.

If you have any problems in a class your first line of action should be speaking with the professor. If you don't understand something ask him/her and make sure you don't leave their office until you totally understand the concept. Don't leave more confused than when you walked in.

Many students feel as though you can figure things out on their own or "too proud" to ask for help. Don't be! If you are serious about excelling at Drexel ask for help! There is no way to get around it, you need help then get it.

Also if you want to earn brownie points with the professor just show up to his/her office hours and introduce yourself and ask him/her ANYTHING. Seriously. Think of any questions and ask. For example a trick I like to use during the first or second week of class I go to all my professors and give them the same speech, "Hello professor my name is Camille Tomlin and I'm in your morning lecture class. I just wanted to stop by your office early in the term and find out what I can do to receive an 'A' in your class. I am interested in doing my best in this class and wanted to know any additional study aids or reading material I should be familiar with to do well in your class." This tactic will shocked and delighted most professors, and most importantly allow them to remember your face and name when it comes time to give grades.

Group Study and Study Partners

We certainly encourage you to find other students to study with. This allows you to be motivated by the study buddy or group and to ask questions if you are unsure about any concepts. But you must remember, study groups only work when you do a little studying on your OWN before you meet. If everyone is studying for the first time when you meet, little progress will be made because the material is new to you.

Meet many students in your class and set up a study group, especially with the kids you know are getting high marks. It's pointless to study with your best friend who grades are worst than yours.
