Sameer Kalghatgi

Hello everyone, I am Sameer Kalghatgi, a Ph.D. candidate and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Drexel University. I received my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, India in 2003 and then I worked for one year in Tata Motors Ltd, a premier automobile manufacturing company. I then decided to pursue higher studies in the US and joined Drexel University in 2004 to pursue my PhD in Electrical Engineering. I am currently working in the field of Plasma Medicine. I aspire to work in the field of plasma medicine and use cold plasma to further the well being of human beings.

I have served on the board of the EGA (Engineering Graduate Association) as Secretary, for 2005-06, and as Vice President, for 2006-08. I am now the treasurer of GSA. As the treasurer I will bring transparency to the financial transactions of all the student organizations and better accountability in managing the funds allocated to GSA. I would like to get all graduate student organizations under the GSA banner and try to get more funding allocated for the activities organized by GSA and its daughter organizations. Through the Drexel One campaign I would love to see the student community to be served by a unified student body.

I have enjoyed being involved in the graduate student community by actively participating in and organizing various events here at Drexel University and through the GSA I would like to forge strong and healthy relationships with the entire graduate student community, faculty and administrators. Together with the board members of the GSA I would strive to make Drexel University a better place for graduate students and improve the quality of life for graduate students and make their time here at Drexel a memorable experience.
