Planning for Instruction
Planning for Instruction
2008
Through my coursework and student teaching, I’ve found a few different ways to think about what needs to go into planning for instruction.
One of the first things that I would like to do in my classroom would be to get a chance to know the students and make a connection. If you are able to open up to them, they are more likely to open up to you therefore becoming more comfortable and making the classroom setting feel a sense of security.
I always like to start off with personal introductions, including myself, then a type of activity to get a sense of the class dynamic in regards to the learning styles of each student and how that translates as a whole.
After that I can get a better scope as to how to present certain material, or what changes I could make to a certain lesson to better fit that given class.
Another great option I have just been introduced to, is the thought of a co-generative dialogue. Using this method gives myself a chance to connect further with the students while getting feedback and hearing their opinions on a more personal level.
