Ever since I could remember I was interested in Biology. When I was younger I really didn’t understand that I specifically liked that subject, but I knew that I like being outdoors and I liked asking why and how questions about some of the things I would see. I also enjoyed plants as well as the creek behind my house. I loved the summertime when I got to go outside and explore and see what had changed from last season, or even the day before.
It wasn’t until Junior High and even more so; High School, that I not only realized that what I had liked for so long had a name, but that I did really well in those Biology and Science classes because I had been interested in it for so long without even realizing it.
After I understood that Biology was the way to go for me, I then thought back to the people who really inspired me and my life. Aside from my family, the first person I thought of was my high school Biology teacher. I had always enjoyed going to my science classes much more than some of the other subjects I took throughout my academic career and I had some of my favorite teachers in those courses as well.
The second group of people I thought of were the great coaches that I have had throughout my life. I have always been involved in a variety of sports and I think that sports, as well as other extra curricular activities can really add to and build on an individuals character in a positive way.
Once I put it all together, I realized that; if I could teach Biology and Coach a sport, that would be just perfect for me. If I could have the opportunity to give back like the people who inspired me had done, I would jump at the chance. So, that’s exactly what I decided to pursue, and I can’t wait to get my start.
Through the creation of this portfolio, I plan to share my experiences, goals, and achievements from throughout my educational career.
