Program Directors

FAIMER President and Chief Executive Officer

John J. Norcini, Ph.D., has been President and CEO of FAIMER since May 2002. For the previous 25 years, he held a number of different senior positions at the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Norcini's principal academic interest is in the area of assessing physician performance. He is on the editorial boards of four peer-reviewed journals in measurement and medical education and has published extensively. Current major research interests include methods for setting standards, assessing practice performance, and testing professional competence.

Co-Directors

William P. Burdick, M.D., is Assistant Vice President for Operations, and Chair of the Test Development Committee for the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment program. He is Professor of Emergency Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine where he is also an Associate Director for the Program for Integrated Learning (a problem-based curriculum) and Director of the first-year Clinical Skills course in that program. Dr. Burdick has been recognized for teaching excellence with the Lindback Award and the Trustees' Award. He currently serves as Chair of the United States Medical Licensing Examination™ Test Accommodations Committee, and is a member of the USMLE™ Computer Case Simulation Committee. A graduate of Oberlin College and Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Burdick completed training in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Page S. Morahan, Ph.D., is a consultant in strategic career planning, leadership development, and faculty affairs. She has served in leadership positions since 1982, including Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and President of the Association of Medical School Microbiology and Immunology Chairs. Currently, Dr. Morahan is Founding Director of the National Center of Leadership in Academic Medicine, and Co-Director of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Morahan has published extensively in scientific research, education and organizational development, and has developed a website for faculty development resources.
