 These are all good answers!

Through image details: Each of the four figures embraces a bouquet of flowers, and the little girl also holds her doll in her arms. The soft touch with which the women embrace these objects may be perceived as emphasizing their affection for each other and creating a loving mood. Further, each of the older women wears a gentle smile, although surprisingly, the little girl wears a startled look.

Through value or tone: "Value" or "tone" is the degree of lightness or darkness regardless of hue (exact color). Most of the tones in the picture are quite bright, even the dark colors, such as black. One might look at the many bright tones that serve to create a feeling of happiness and love as a reflection of maternal devotion. A source of illumination (presumably the sun) backlights each of the four figures, making the brightness of the various hues appear natural. Combined, one can say that these tones create an overall loving mood.

Through shape: Most of the shapes in this illustration are gently rounded, such as the women's elbows and the flower petals. The lack of severely sharp angles serves to create a gentle mood, reinforcing the book's theme of maternal tenderness.
