EASY READER SERIES
(From: Cazet, Denys. (2003). Minnie and Moo: Will you be my Valentine? New York: HarperCollins.)
Easy readers are beginning chapter books designed for new readers. They employ controlled vocabularies and simplified sentence structures, as well as large typefaces and generous leading (white space between lines of type). Each chapter is generally about four to eight pages long, although some easy readers are not divided into chapters. Large illustrations help new readers to decipher unfamiliar written words.
Each of the authors listed below has written at least one easy reader series that is widely available in bookstores and libraries.
