Introduction

Spanish/English bilingual picture books introduce English speakers to Spanish and Spanish speakers to English. These books are also important tools for cultural studies, portraying often-overlooked Hispanic and Latin American cultures in words and in pictures.

In the United States, bilingual picture books range from semi-bilingual titles, in which the primarily English texts contain scattered Spanish words or phrases, to fully-bilingual books, in which the entire texts are presented in both English and Spanish.
