Web Design Basics
Before we started using DW, we created webpages with a text editor (Notepad) and published them using SFTP with the application SSH. Here are some basic tip sheets:
Dreamweaver MX 2004
You can choose to design pages in this class with Dreamweaver, but it is not required.
Where to find DW
- Dreamweaver MX 2004 is installed in our classroom (Rush 205) and the CRC
- You can download a free 30-day trial version of the updated Dreamweaver CS3 from Adobe (note you may need to register). Since final web projects are due the 10th week of class, you may wish to wait until the 6th week to do this.
- Dreamweaver is an expensive professional product, list price about $400. As a student, you may be eligible for an education discount. For instance, Dreamweaver CS3 is available for about $200 from Academic Superstore. In no way am I suggesting you should buy the software or use this vendor! (Prices from 1/2008)
How to
- Adapt the course template (in-class exercise)
- Work with your new site (general procedures)
- Add JavaScript photo-swapping behavior (in-class exercise)
