Saint Barnabas Medical Center
2700 Telemetry Unit
Livingston, NJ
The 2700 unit was design to have an upscale
look for the upscale, but not V.I.P. level patient. We looked
for ways to utilize rich, dark woods in applications that would minimize
potential damage from hospital traffic. The raised panel
detail at the patient room doors highlights the patient room entry,
but is held away from the handrail to allow for the ADA compliant
clearance and to minimize nicks and dings to the wood finish.
The patient room headwall unit is a Hill Rom standard, but the wood
finish and the laminate selection on the tambour doors customized
the unit to match with the rest of the finishes in the room.
Throughout the unit, we had to find creative
ways to accommodate a very low existing ceiling height created by
many existing conditions which were not fully noted during the
original field survey work. Note the recessed pocket at the
pendant fixture in the reception area. This allowed us to
retain the specified fixture with its fixed stem length. In the
patient rooms, the crown molding was limited to
the headwall only in order to allow sufficient wall space for the
swag and jabeaux style window treatment. |
