Waverly: The Post-War Years

During Baltimore's post-war heyday, Waverly flourished, anchored by the thriving Greenmount Avenue commercial district on one side, and the newly constructed Memorial Stadium on the other. Memorial Stadium opened in 1950 on the site of an existing facility, Venable Stadium, which had formed the eastern boundary of the neighborhood. It was home to both the Baltimore Colts football team, and Baltimore Orioles baseball team.
