Advocacy
| League of American Bicyclists | Founded in 1880 as the League of American Wheelmen, the League of American Bicyclists promotes cycling and advocates for the interests of cyclists. They have a lot of information about commuting, safety and maintenance. |
| Rails to Trails Conservancy | The Rails to Trails Conservancy works disused railway corridors as multi use trail systems. They also advocate on open space conservation and environmental issues. |
| Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals | APBP is a professional organization for Civil Engineers and Urban Planning professionals that promotes the development of the emerging field of bicycle and pedestrian planning. |
| The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia | Promotes cycling and advocates on behalf of Philadelphia's cyclists. |
| Neighborhood Bike Works | Neighborhood Bike Works is a West Philadelphia charity that educates youth through cycling and bike building. If you have an old bike, donate it to them. They'll teach kids the fine art of bike repair by rebuilding it. |
| Bicycle Access Council | Pennsylvania State group that advocates on cycling issues and works to educate the public on cycling. |

| Bicycle Club of Philadelphia | Founded in 1979, this local bike club promotes cycling and sponsors events and races. |
| Sturdy Girl Racing | Local race club for women. They provide instruction, plan events and hold regular rides. |
Manufacturers
| Cannondale | Cannondale makes strong, high end aluminum framed bikes and a wide array of accessories. |
| Jamis | Jamis started out as distributor of European bikes, but has been designing and making their own since the 1970s. Jamis places a special emphasis on urban cycling and as several product lines aimed at the urban cyclist. |
| Surly | Based out of Minnesota, Surly primarily makes high quality steel bike frames. They do, however, built two complete bikes well suited for commuting. If you ever want to build a custom bike you can't go wrong with a Surly frame. |
| Specialized | Specialized makes a wide variety of well designed, well made bikes at all price points. They have several product lines that are well suited for the commuter. |
| Terry | Manufactures bikes and accessories specially for women. |
| Trek | Trek is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world. They have a wide selection of mountain bikes and several urban bikes. Their touring model is well regarded. |
| Dinotte | Dinotte makes compact, powerful LED bike lights. Their lights are some of the most powerful on the market. |
Local(Philadelphia) Retailers
| Trophy Bike | This West Philadelphia store caters to bicycle commuters and other every day riders. They feature both high end and budget bikes. Their mechanics do first rate work and can hook you up with a good used bike. The store also teaches classes on repair and maintenance. |
| Human Zoom | Located in Manayunk, this store caters to racers, but has a good selection of touring and commuting bikes. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Their repair shop does good work. |
| Bicycle Therapy | This South Philadelphia store caters to recreational rides, but also has a good selection of city bikes. The store staff is very active in the local cycling scene and participates in many races. |
