Undergraduate Research Assistant
|
We are seeking undergraduate research assistants to participate
in cancer research projects.
These projects aim to elucidate novel functions of the hamartin/tuberin
heterodimer and the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway pertaining to cell
division, and include:
-
Identification of phosphorylation sites on hamartin
(TSC1) and tuberin (TSC2)
- Study of cell division and signal transduction events in mammalian
cells
-
Screens of pharmacologic inhibitors in mammalian
cells
-
Screens in fission yeast (S. pombe)
The ideal candidates would be highly motivated, detail-oriented,
with genuine interest in biological processes related to human disease.
With the imediate supervision of the PI, students are expected to
conduct experiments (applying molecular biology, biochemistry, cell
biology or microscopy techniques), analyze, interpret and report
data, and study relevant literature.
Basic laboratory experience (preparation of buffers, liquid handling,
lab safety) and computer skills (Microsoft Office, literature search)
are required.
Interested candidates should contact the PI directly by e-mail
