www.alzheimers.com
The goal of this web site is to educated the public on prevention, treatment and recent medical breakthroughs, although geared more towards care givers and family members. The site is funded through Bayer Corporation Pharmecutical Division. Due to this affiliation the site is an effective vehicle for pushing new drugs for treatment of Alzheimers.
This site is set up with numerous sub-pages off of the main home page. Two are designed for patient care and care givers describing the day to day responsibilities encompassing living with and caring for a patient suffering from Alzheimers. It also contains a quasi checklist for worried family members.
The site also provides scientific news stories on the genetic connection to Alzheimers. The problem encountered here is the language with which the information is presented. Unless the reader has more than basic genetic understanding these links are just a confusing page filled with scientific acronyms and multi-syllabic terms.

This site is an organization one supported for the public by the public. Therefore this page is not cluttered with medication advertisements.
This site contains several sub-pages outlining the history, causes and diagnosis of the disorder. The benefit of this site is the concise way information is presented. It is not filled with technical words that the average web browser would not be able to understand. It also covers the important issue of caring for patients and living with the disease. It contains a section devoted to professionals on diagnosing the disorder with links off these pages to more in depth research including DSM-IV criteria and other guidelines.
