Environmental Engineering
Entrance Requirements
In addition to the general
entrance requirements for all applicants,
entrance to the M.S. Program in Environmental Engineering requires
an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET-approved institution.
Students lacking this credential may apply to be initially admitted
to the MSES program, and then transfer to the MSEE program after
completing additional undergraduate courses to develop the functional
equivalent of the ABET engineering BS degree. Typically, courses
must be taken in computer programming, differential equations, linear
algebra, engineering mechanics (i.e. statics and dynamics), mechanics
of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, engineering economics,
and electrical engineering principles.
Curriculum and Plan
of Study
The requirements for the M.S.E.E. degree
include two sets of courses. The first set includes three required
core courses that form the basis for further specialization. The second
set of seven to nine courses comprise the area(s) of specialization.
The remainder of required credits (a total of 48 credits for nonthesis;
45 credits for thesis) are elective courses.
Within the first quarter of study, a
student must meet with an assigned advisor and work out a plan of

printing out the form. A student may, under the advise of a faculty
member, develop a unique plan of study combining one or more areas
of interest.
