Zafar is studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms mediating the effect of chemokine receptors on neuronal survival. He has been investigating the coupling of CXCR4 to cell cycle proteins in rat and human neuronal and glial cultures. Zafar has been in the lab since January 2001.
